Wonderful Winter Warmer!
May 11, 2023
On 26 February, Central Library opened its doors to 950 visitors for a special Sunday Funday, funded by Manchester Central Library Development Trust, the charity that supports cultural and educational activity across Manchester Libraries.
Visitors enjoyed a busy afternoon crammed with free crafts and performance activities across two floors. Manchester based charities such as British Red Cross, Citizens Advice Bureau, Forever Manchester and Lifeshare, offered information and advice on dealing with the cost-of-living crisis, and raised awareness of the invaluable work they do for and with Manchester residents.
Fantastic activities included World Book Day crafts, a storytelling competition, a chess tournament, face painters, and interactive musical and storytelling sessions from Artful Playground!
We received lots of wonderful feedback from families that demonstrate how much visitors enjoyed and appreciated this special day:
‘This is amazing! Well organised. I would like to see a lot more like this!’
‘Wonderful experience – please keep it up!’
‘We enjoyed the crafts sessions today 🙂 Very professional 🙂 It was a great stress buster, for kids and parents!’
‘It was an amazing event – costume designing, face painting and storytelling’
Manchester Libraries is grateful to Manchester Central Library Development Trust, and the donations it receives from the public, that enable amazing family days like this to take place.
